![]() Hi All,
We are now moving the 0500-0700 BBC DRM & 1900 onwards RTI / KBS AM to Woofferton from Saturday 16th Feb. We are keen to see how the signal strength differs with our new 4 MHz antenna and the reliability of the DRM audio. Please post your recption reports. Thanks for all your feedback. |

The results should be interesting. In addition to changes in the performance of the new antenna, moving the 3955 kHz broadcast further south will HOPEFULLY improve reception to the west off the rear lobe.

What's the azimuth of the 3955 kHz transmission from Woofferton? Is the output still 100kW or is it more likely 90 kW?
As I expected, reception is nil at my location if the broadcast commenced as scheduled. I'll periodically test portions of this broadcast over the next few months to see if the situation changes. Last edited by tpreitzel : 16-02-2013 at 05:45. |

Is the antenna the same type of array as was used in Skelton?

Although I might stand a small chance of receiving this broadcast off the main lobe if the bearing was 105 degrees instead of 114, the likelihood is nearly nil due to the orientation of my antenna, its insufficient length for the frequency, and insufficient power. Thanks for the info. Last edited by tpreitzel : 19-02-2013 at 02:43. |

The new HFCC A12 file still shows this transmission as emanating from Skelton. What type of antenna array is being used at Woofferton? Is it the same type that was in use at Skelton - AHR1/1/0.3?

Rather unstable this morning in Stockholm. The log is one hour long. 75.7% decoded audio and the SNR seems to be higher than it used to be from Skelton.

There was a test transmission at 12:00 UTC
I noticed it because i was tuned to RFI 10 Khz up and had a loss of audio probably due to AGC of my SDR as BBC is at least 20 dB stronger. AM was also tested. Interference is not a problem as far as BBC is only 20 dB stronger. It does happen that ,fading helping, this is not always the case. AM seems less critical on that point. Due to the low power of RFI i think this is not a real problem. |

A bit unstable today too. 91.68% CDA in the 34 minutes long log. Max. SNR was 26.10 at 0644 UTC. The Channel Impulse Response is not distinct - perhaps I'll try "First Peak" in Time Sync Tracking tomorrow.
