External RTC battery on Morphy Richards 27024

I replaced the fault super capacitor, what maintain time/date running when radio is unplugged from AC, with a 1.5V AA battery, and put it outside.
The radio board have a two provision for some leds, I used this place to install a two pin header connector and a wire jumper to ground one of pins.
I pulled a wire from pin 48 on DRM module, and connected to cathode of a diode (salvaged one).
Anode of diode is connected to positive of battery.
To avoid future damage, I removed the bad super capacitor.
And, managed to put a battery holder outside of radio.
The AA size battery is a overkill, a button size battery probably last for long time.
Is not my intention to do it at this time, just investigating some spot on LCD (after cleaning), and finish burning the red leds and weak the blues.
I don't have replacement leds, but I have a idea to replace the blue led for white. Unfortunately, Also I don't have any type of white leds.
Checking my salvaged parts, I found a small flexible strip of white leds, and it fit nicely on place of original led board. Made some modifications and, my radio now have a white backlight. But I loose the red color used to indicate recording.
The white led is more comfortable to for my eyes. The brightness is little bit high, need some adjustment.
