WINB 15670 kHz KiwiSDR Reception at Point Reyes National Park, CA
VOACAP indicates that reception of the WINB DRM portion of the datacasting combo should be a little better this month ( 1700z attachment 1).
The strongest signal (colour white = S9 + 10 dB) is off Newfoundland in the North Atlantic. The Colour key goes down to the lowest shown (colour brown = S5). All this references a 6ft vertical whip receive antenna. It also indicated that the WINB signal might be received, from the rear of the beam, in the most western part of California at the Maritime Historical Radio Society's receive location in the Point Reyes National Sea Shore Park on the California Pacific Coast NW of San Francisco (the little brown coloured blob). Attachment 2 shows that there was a little decoding, this afternoon, during the last half hour of transmission due to the excellent commercial receive antenna (that has more gain than a whip)!

I haven't heard them at all on 15 MHz so far this week, wonder if they're off air for some reason?

My long-winded message (two messages ago) shows that they were transmitting yesterday and being received in California. I did not check today.

The attachment shows the spectral view of the WINB combo signal on 15670 kHz being received by an Italian KiwiSDR web receiver (just a few minutes ago).

I Really must pay more attention to previous posts! :-)
I am getting some traces from them today, but signals generally are way down on 15 MHz, and even the mighty WWCR is only just audible, so it looks like it's just a propagation issue. Quote:

The WWCR transmitter runs 100 Kw to a similar type Rhombic antenna that is used at WINB. Except that the WWCR's Rhombic is not terminated. The WWCR signal should therefore be at least 10 dB stronger than WINB. A big problem is that the WINB transmission today is not at the best time or the best frequency for propagation to Europe!

Yes, that is another big problem! The AWR 250 Kw transmission from Nauen, followed by the 500 Kw RFI broadcast from Issoudun, all on the same 15670 kHz frequency, does not exactly help the WINB reception.
